1985
The Casa Decor concept was created by Menchita Malbran de Campos in 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under the name of Casa Foa. Her aim was to create a launch pad for interior design and decoration, whilst also generating support for the Jorge Malbran Opthalmological Foundation. Casa Foa continues to be an annual cultural highlight in Buenos Aires showcasing contemporary design trends in Argentine decoration.
1989
Two years after the founding of Casa Decor, Javier Campos Malbran took the idea to Brazil and Peru, creating Casa Cor, which today produces 13 shows annually in different cities in South America, each of which brings cutting edge design concepts to the fore.
1992
In 1992, the Campos family and Cristian Pusso took the concept to Spain as Casa Decor, continuing the avant-garde philosophies which make these ventures unique. A church in the heart of Madrid was selected as its first venue with the slogan: “What are 43 decorators doing locked up in a church?”. Kersti Urvois, owner of the luxury fashion company, Loewe, organizes the most prominent PR gathering in Madrid. Javier Campos Malbran, Cristian Pusso,Marîa Inés Bervejillo, Frances Aldrich Llopis and Kersti Urvois are the principals in charge of expanding Casa Decor since its European inception, opening in Barcelona in 1994, Lisbon in 2000, Oporto in 2001, Valencia in 2002, and Milan and the Algarve in 2006. 2006 also saw Casa Decor’s debut in Miami.
