This year we have a double presence at the London Design Festival, reflecting the multidisciplinary and collaborative spirit of Goldsmiths. Students from several different departments have been involved, showing a range of practices from both the Department of Design, and the Department of Art. Our most significant events will be Prospect in conjunction with Casa Decor UK and the Goldsmiths/BAA Expo
For the first time, our postgraduate design communities are coming together offering a unique opportunity to experience radical approaches to design advocated by the department. To reflect on the college’s motto that Goldsmiths is all about the freedom to experiment, to think differently and to be an individual, Prospect is created to question current design practices and develop future creative industry.
The exhibition, seminars and workshops will include work from a wide range of disciplines and discourses, challenging current orthodoxies, asking new questions, revaluing and prospecting the future of design. Casa Decor has sponsored Goldsmiths in their end of year show at The Boiler House, 152 Brick Lane, London, E1 6RU.
Heathrow is both the gateway for the UK and an international crossroads for the world. BAA have joined forces with Goldsmiths to create the Goldsmiths/BAA Expo Commission, inviting Goldsmiths students from all levels and disciplines to pitch as teams for a 2 months installation at Heathrow Terminal 5. The two winning exhibits will be installed in the Check-in Hall on the top floor at Terminal 5 and opened in conjunction with this year’s London Design Festival.
Terminal 5 offers an outstanding public space and platform for the winning Goldsmiths students to exhibit their work.
